Joe and Peggy Turner are loving life at Topeka Presbyterian Manor

They share 19 great-grandchildren, a lifetime of memories and now an apartment at Topeka Presbyterian Manor.

New residents Joe and Peggy Turner have been at the Manor just over 11 months and if you’re looking for someone with buyer’s remorse it isn’t them.

“We’re really enjoying it,” said Joe Turner. “She was a bit hesitant at first, but now she loves it as much as I do.”

The Turners, like a lot of couples, had always promised themselves that they wouldn’t rely on their kids to take care of them when they got older.

“That wasn’t a burden we wanted them to have to worry about,” Joe said.

So, when the time was right, the pair began looking for the right place to call home.

“As it turned out, someone from the sales and marketing office came by one of our garage sales as a customer,” said Peggy. “She made it her mission after we struck up a conversation to get us into the Manor.”

The rest, as they say, is history. Peggy is still able to cook in the spacious kitchen their apartment provides her, and she enjoys playing Bingo. Both say they enjoy going to dinner and meeting their new neighbors at the community.

“It’s really worked out quite nicely,” Peggy said.
