FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
FIND OUT WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

When is the right time to move into an Independent Living community?

Seniors often reach a point where they think about rightsizing. Their house may be more than they want or, for some, able to handle. They might start thinking it would be fun to sell the lawn mower and move somewhere maintenance-free. The ideal time to move into an independent living community is when you feel the itch to change things up, but when you are still active enough to enjoy the lifestyle benefits of a senior living community.

What are my Independent Living options?

We offer beautiful studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments, many with patios or balconies.

Do you have additional storage?

We do offer small storage areas, or we can direct you to convenient storage units nearby. In addition, we can provide expert assistance in rightsizing. A move of this kind usually requires anticipating future needs and making some tough decisions about furnishings and possessions. In truth, you most likely spend the majority of your time in just a few rooms of your house. We can help you in planning. We’ll work with you personally to ensure the choices you make are right for you and consistent with the way you want live.

How do your fees work? Is it a buy-in or a monthly fee?

Our community offers two options.
Option 1: You can choose a plan with monthly accommodation fees and no up-front fees or non-refundable deposits. This plan simply requires a 30-day notices to vacate the home.
Option 2: Or you can choose our 75/25 deposit of care plan in which you pay a deposit (cost depends on style of apartment) at the time you move in. This plan is designed to allow for 75% of this fee to be refunded to your or your estates when you leave the community and the resident becomes occupied again. The 25% non-refundable portion remains with the community to further its missions to provide quality services to residents.
Contact us for more information to help you determine which plan suits your financial situation best.
Rates and monthly fees are subject to periodic review.

Do you take Medicaid?

Medicaid is not available in independent living.

What types of security do you offer?

Our main doors are locked between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., and a team member regularly walks the buildings during those hours. Entrance doors to Garden and Tower apartments are always locked. A key is required to enter.

Do you offer a meal plan?

Dining is an important component of our culture at Topeka Presbyterian Manor. We offer flexible meal plans with seasonal and always-available menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner so you can choose what you’d like to eat. Select the dining package that fits your lifestyle.

Is there parking?

Yes, covered parking is available on a first come, first served basis for independent living residents. A monthly fee applies

Are pets allowed?

Yes, we allow pets in independent living on a case-by-case basis.

May my son or daughter live with me?

An adult child can live with their parent if they meet age and application requirements. An adult child can temporarily stay with a parent to provide additional help following an illness or injury or for a holiday.

Do you have a pool?

We do not have an exercise pool on site. There is an exercise pool available with membership at a nearby local gym.
